Surf reports are looking a little sketchy for Saturday and it’s not looking ideal for an ocean paddle. So it might be a good day for a lake paddle. Spring brings some color to the surrounding hills and the lakes are looking their best. San Vicente is a very scenic reservoir on the edge of Lakeside’s back country. https://www.sandiego.gov/reservoirs-lakes/san-vicente-reservoir
This is the largest lake in the county, so we’ll be able to get in a very nice paddle. It has more shoreline than most of us would want to cover in a day. The last time we did this paddle, Johannes and Greg spotted a pair of bald eagles on the island. You never know what you might see on these paddles.
Saturday is going to be warm with the temperature in the mid 80s. Make sure to bring enough drinking water.
If you have some extra time, bring a picnic lunch for after the paddle. They have some nice shaded tables where we can sit and eat.
San Vicente and El Capitan charge an $8 entrance fee per person. Launching a single kayak is included in that fee. Tandems and other boats cost extra.
