Hello, and welcome to your club library. The San Diego Kayak Club Library is available
to all club members free of charge. The library is made up of items purchased by the
club, as well as items that have been generously donated or lent by members. We have
lots of great materials available to inform you about paddling that I'll bet are NOT
in your local public library. The library is one of the unique benefits of your SDKC
membership, so take advantage!
Checkout Procedure
The librarian brings the entire library to each club meeting. Before and after
the meeting you can look over what's available and choose what you'd like to take
home with you. Each item has a checkout card attached to it. Remove this card and
on the back write your name, the date, and the amount and form of your deposit (check
or cash). The card and deposit are then placed in the checkout box (small, aqua
colored). The deposit for books and charts is $10, and for videos it's $20.
Check In Procedure
To return the item, reverse the above steps: remove the card and deposit from the
box, cross out your name, return the card to it's sleeve on the item, and return the
item to the library. Items are considered "due" at the next month's meeting, so please
bring any borrowed library items to the next club meeting, so they can be made available
to other club members. If you have an item and will not be attending the next meeting,
please contact the librarian to make arrangements to return the borrowed item, or send
it along with someone who will be attending the meeting.
Suggestions
Tell us what you would like to have added to the library. From time to time the club
votes $$ to be spent on materials for the library, so please contact the librarian or
bring your idea to the next meeting.
Donations Needed!
We are happy to accept donations of books, magazines, videos, and other materials
of interest to kayakers and outdoor lovers to add to the club library. If you have
anything to donate please contact the librarian.
